Manufacturing business ideas are as many and varied as what anyone with a good imagination and inventiveness can create. The key to finding the right product to manufacture is to conduct an assessment of the environment with the aim of looking for a need that can be filled. As such, anything an entrepreneur chooses to manufacture must be something that will be useful in some manner, so as to increase its chances of becoming profitable. Items like fancy toilet paper, custom bird feeders and bird baths, costume beads, and baby products are examples of products that may be manufactured. The choice is up to the manufacturer to select a manufacturing idea after conducting an assessment of the business environment.

Fancy toilet paper is included in the list of manufacturing business ideas that an entrepreneur could exploit. In some markets, the toilet paper available are not very inventive because they are mostly basic. A manufacturer could see this as an opportunity to manufacture a luxury brand of toilet paper. The toilet paper could come in various colors, and it could also have other characteristics that the basic toilet papers do not have. Souvenirs are also a manufacturing business idea a manufacturer may decide to look into. The souvenirs could be about anything, including historical figures, important landmarks in a country, and those related to a place like a museum or theme park.

Bird feeders and bird baths are manufacturing business ideas as well. They could be customized to suit the requirements of the customer. For instance, a customer could place an order for a bird feeder that is a miniature version of his or her house. The customer could also decide to order a bird feeder that is a replica of another favorite place. The bird baths could be customized to suit the preferences of the customer, or they may fit a particular creative design chosen by the manufacturer.

Costume jewelry is also a part of manufacturing business ideas, which a manufacturer can explore. This includes the production of beads and other items used in making costume jewelry. The manufacturer could use a lot of creativity to come up with different colors, sizes and shapes of costume beads. The costume beads could also be customized to suit the preferences of the customers. Baby products include items like baby wipes, diapers, and even baby clothes and accessories. Baby products are always a good manufacturing choice, because people are always having babies and need these products.

If you have a new idea for something unique that you want to manufacture, make sure you have a good grasp on patent law before you start.

One of my friends works with patents for his research company and when I asked him what he thought about getting a patent for a new idea he told me I needed to make sure I knew what I was doing before I even applied.

Applying is important, but it can be lengthy and expensive and if you don't do it properly, it can also be pointless.

For example, if you don't cover all the ways in which your idea can be exploited on the application, another company can come in and do this and then your patent will mean nothing.

If you are planning to get a patent for the item you want to manufacture, make sure you either do a lot of research or get someone who knows what they're doing to help you.

@KoiwiGal - Well, a 3D printer can be good if you want to start a small scale manufacturing, although it is usually only capable of making a few items per day depending on how big and complex they are.

But, it can also be a good starting out point if you are just looking to test designs and viability. I wouldn't suggest you buy a 3D printer if that's all you are going to do, but if you know someone who has one, or if you know a company that's willing to rent one out, it can be a great way to test your designs.

I know I used to try and create molds whenever I needed to test a new design that I wanted to make commercially, and they can be expensive to make more than once. You really want to have a solid design before you mock up your prototypes.

Something you might want to consider if you decide you want to manufacture items for sale is investing in a 3D printer.

I mean, it will depend on what you want to sell, but I've seen several different small companies online who have managed to succeed by selling different products that can be produced using a 3D printer.

Basically it takes a design you work out on a computer and renders it in plastic (or in other materials if you have a more advanced kind of printer, I know some people work in metal as well).

I've seen people make all kinds of interesting designs, like jewelry, wall hangings, even parts for shoes.

It's only going to be suitable for a small scale, but if you are more interested in the design and in making your products exclusive, it could be a good way to go.
